Where amazing happens

When was the last time I played basketball? Not just for fun or because I took my son training but actually suiting up, war paint, laces and shorts. I can't remember.
I've been near to the game and love the way my girls have progressed and developed into a Metropolitan League team as I see the game as both, coach and player. This sometimes conflicts with the courtside decisions I make on behalf of the ladies and I want them to do things that I would do if I were out there, but the coach inside is aware of strengths and weaknesses in my own players yet I find myself asking them to do the fundamentally sound things that I would do given a pair of kicks and a ticking shot clock.
I believe in these women and understand sometimes life gets in the way but each one of them has a passion for the game that I relate to and love. It shows at training, out on the court when everyone is tired from being drilled to death and I demand more and they give it to me. That's the sign of a contender, of a compounded unit of individuals that came together and formed a family.
When we made the decision to change our name from Rushcroft to Red Ravens, something else changed with it. I can't put my finger on a thread of light hidden in the fabric of time to pin point the exact moment when the change took place, irrespective of that, the feeling is still there. The pride of being called a Raven is always there too.

I can't run into the future to see what's in store for us next. All I can do is enjoy the feeling of being a part of something amazing.

To my Ravens Xx.
